Title The Marker Hero (Concept Sketch)
Medium Red Pencil, Prisma Grey Markers, Ink, Photoshop
Date May 10th, 2003
Info

Well the first thing that should be pointed out with this piece is the medium. You may notice that I put down Prisma Grey Markers. Yep I used markers with this piece. Instead of using Photoshop to do the shading for this piece, I used Prisma Grey Markers to shade this piece. I then scanned it in, and basically overlayed the entire piece with color. So I did use Photoshop to color this piece, create the background, and use different Photoshop effects. But all the shading you see was done with markers. It definately helped out in terms of how long I mess around in Photoshop.

To give a bit of explaination for this piece, the character is actually the concept sketch for my final 3D piece in my gaming modeling class. If you've checked out my latest 3D Studio Max pieces, you'd know I've completed three 3D pieces so far for my gaming concept. The hero is the last part, and this is the hero. All my 3D work for that course has been shown on the site as model sheets. Because of that, you'll be seeing the concept sketch again when I put up the 3D hero model sheet, but it won't be like this.

Also it should be known that I made the background for this piece. Using various Photoshop brushes and effects I was able to pull of this interesting background without having to go onto the internet. And of course, you recognize the DraZtic logo from my "Experiment" piece. I'm sure by now you're wondering if I'll ever stick to a coloring style. Probably not, but I do plan on using the markers in future pieces until I find that next style I want to try.
